How old are the students?
We offer coaching for children aged 3 to Adults. Children of all ages, abilities and backgrounds are welcome.
Who does the training?
Our coaches have over 25 years experience in working with children and football coaching. See the ‘COACHES’ page for more details.
How do the sessions work?
Children are placed in groups for training based on age as well as ability and experience. All children are assessed during their first few sessions and then placed in a class which best fits their playing ability. There is a maximum of 16 children per trainer.
As their skills advance and match competence improves, all students will have the chance to progress to a more advanced class.
What skills are taught?
Our football coaching programme enables kids to learn the skills of the game in a fun, safe environment. We teach kids to play with competence and flair!
Our ultimate aim is to help each child progress, and nurture their talent on the football field. The general skills taught are;
- Movement and agility
- Ball control and ‘mastery’
- Team work and support
- Defense and tackling
- Tactical awareness
- Match strategies
Is there training when it is raining?
INCASE of heavy rain or lightning at the beginning of a lesson please refer below:
- Training & matches will only be cancelled during RED / BLACK rain storm warnings, the hoisting of TYPHOON signal No 8 & Pollution Level at 10+. If Thunder and Lightning warning’s are issued by the HK Observatory or other inclement weather conditions, we will make a game time decision at the venue.
- Please check the Dragons News section 20 mins before the scheduled lesson is to start.
- Dragon News is on the HOME page and is a twitter feed and if we cancel any class this is where we post the message, as bad weather and lightning can dissipate very quickly.
What about tournaments & matches?
Competition is a valuable tool for developing football skills, team-building and social development. Winning is important for developing a child’s self-esteem, but losing is equally important in learning sportsmanship. Our focus is on a positive, spirited performance rather than the final score.
The first available matches/tournaments for players is at eight years of age or older, depending on ability. We will however, organise friendly matches, where possible, for children under this age to allow them to test their skills and have some fun!
Please refer to the online calendar of events for match and tournament details.
If I miss a lesson can I go to another to make up the one I missed?
We will do our best to keep the lessons going as WE DO NOT provide make up lessons or credit notes, as stated in our terms and conditions.
