HK Dragons Athletics Association (HKDAA)
This autumn, HK Dragons will be expanding into the world of track & field, cross-country and road racing. The HK Dragons Athletics Association (HKDAA) will provide a variety of different training opportunities for all levels and all age groups, including adults!
Leading this new and promising athletics club will be Hong Kong record holder and Hoka One One athlete Hideo “Harry” Loasby. Harry was born and raised in Hong Kong, and although only started running competitively aged 16, quickly climbed to the top of the Hong Kong Rankings in the 1500m. He then went on to the United States to compete in NCAA Division 1 cross-country and track for Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Harry has two Hong Kong Junior National Records in the 1500m and 3000m, the Men’s National Record in the 3000m, and has competed for Hong Kong at junior and senior levels. He also recently became a certified coach under USTFCCCA. While he has more national records in his sight, Harry hopes to help develop the next generation of talented endurance runners from Hong Kong, cultivating his broad range of experience while training in the United States, Europe and Japan.
What – Programmes
Youth Team – U-14’s
Our Dragons Youth team will be for kids aged 10-14 who are interested in starting athletics and cross-country. If you are a Dragons footballer, this is an excellent opportunity to build fitness and speed to help you out on the football pitch as well as starting a path in a new sport. The main focus for this group will be foundational work and running form, in order to provide a stable base towards a longer and healthier athletic career.
Junior Team – U-18’s
Our Dragons Junior team will be for kids aged 15-18 who are either interested in starting athletics and cross-country, or for those who are already invested in the sport and are looking to reach the next level competitively. This group’s main focus will be on competition and performance, as well as foundational strength and injury prevention.
Senior Team – 18+
The Senior Dragons team will be for anyone over the age of 18 who have competitive goals in running. Our coaching staff will work with you to create a personalised training programme to fit your schedule in preparation for your target race or goal. Whether you want to run a 5k in under 20 minutes or just finish a marathon, we can help you get there.
$1000/month or $600/session
If your goals are less competitive and more general health and well-being oriented, our social dragons club is for you. We will have weekly group runs which are open to all levels, and you will be provided with weekly workouts written for your needs to improve your overall fitness.
Dragons Football Fitness
$800/month or $350/session
What if my child is already with Dragons and only wants to play football? Dragons Athletics will be offering tailored running sessions to improve your speed and endurance on the pitch. Football is a highly competitive and physical game, and fitness and speed work will only improve your child’s ability as a footballer.
When & Where – Training Sessions
Each athlete will receive a weekly or daily plan (depending on programme), which will consist of 1-3 sessions a week.
- Track workouts will mostly be held at Tsing Yi Sports Ground, subject to availability.
- Additional workouts will be held in Mui Wo, Discovery Bay, Tung Chung and Tsing Yi.
- Sunday long run will be held weekly in Happy Valley.
